How it works

Three steps from
install to PR.

Pick a plan.

Start from a built-in PPL, Upper-Lower, or full-body template — or build your own from scratch in the plan editor.

Share with your crew.

Two taps and everyone you lift with follows the same split, the same exercises, the same progression.

Train. Log. Adapt.

Each lifter logs their own sets, reps, and PRs from their wrist. Coach reviews your week. The plan evolves.

Why Grüp

Train together.
Track your own.

Share a plan with your crew — or host a Live Session and lift together in real time. A 6-character code is all anyone needs to join. Every lifter follows the same program; each of you logs your own sets, reps, and PRs.

  • Share any plan via AirDrop, Messages, or a link
  • Host a Live Session — sets sync every five seconds
  • Individual numbers per lifter, never blended
  • Coach reads your history, not theirs

Activity Feed

Cheers,
not comments.

Tap Share this workout on the finish screen and your crew sees the work — sets, volume, PRs, top lifts. They react with one of six emojis. No threads, no DMs, no drama. Just claps for the bar.

  • Per-workout opt-in — never share without tapping
  • Six reactions: 👍 🔥 💪 🎉 👀 🥶 — that's the whole vocabulary
  • PRs and top lifts surface automatically
  • Friend invites use your Apple Sign-In handle — no usernames to set up

What's inside

Everything you need to
train with intent.

A coach who saw the work

Apple Intelligence, on-device. Coach sees your workout history, your top PRs, and your week — then answers like a trainer who's been watching.

Adaptive mesocycles

Programs auto-cycle through Accumulation → Intensification → Deload. Stall detection flags lifts plateaued three weeks. Linear, double, or RPE-regulated progression — your call.

Log from your wrist

Run the whole workout from Apple Watch. Sets, RPE, rest timer, and PRs — no phone required.

Shared plans, solo stats

Lift the same program as your partners — your sets, reps, and PRs stay yours. The whole reason Grüp exists.

PRs that feel good

1RM-equivalents calculated set by set via the Epley formula. PRs surface the moment you beat them. Volume trends and strength curves, all yours.

Private by design

No accounts, no servers, no analytics. Syncs through your own iCloud. Your training stays yours.

On your wrist

The full workout, on
Apple Watch.

Start your session, log every set, track rest, and celebrate PRs — without ever pulling out your phone. Heart rate and active energy flow straight into Apple Health.

  • Set-by-set logging with haptic confirmation
  • Auto rest timer with smart suggestions
  • Live Activity on the Lock Screen
  • “Hey Siri, start my workout in Grüp”

Coach · Apple Intelligence

A coach.
No cloud.

Coach runs entirely on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence. It reads your workout history, your top PRs, and your week — then answers like a trainer who's actually been watching. Nothing you ask leaves the device.

  • Review your week — volume, PRs, progression
  • Debug a stall on a specific lift
  • Form cues for any exercise in your plan
  • When and how to deload
  • What to prioritize next week

Requires iPhone with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26+).

Review my week.
3 sessions, 14 working sets on push, 9 on pull. Volume up 12% from last week. You hit a 185 × 8 bench PR Wednesday — squat held at 285 × 5 for the third session.

Next week: keep bench volume; rotate squat to a pause variation to break the stall.
Stuck on bench at 185×8.
Three clean sessions at 8 reps is a plateau, not a stall. Wave the intensity: drop to 175 for a 5 × 5 cluster Monday, then come back to 190 for a top-set triple Thursday.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is Grüp free?
Yes. No subscription, no ads, no in-app purchases. Grüp launches free.
When does the beta open?
Soon. Use the email link below to be the first to hear when the TestFlight invites go out.
Which iPhone do I need?
Any iPhone running iOS 18 or later. The AI Coach uses Apple Intelligence, which requires iOS 26+ on an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone (iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 series and newer). Everything else works on iOS 18.
How do Live Sessions work?
Anyone can host a Live Session — Grüp generates a 6-character code (like "GRP-7K2") that you share. Whoever has the code joins on their own phone, and each set logs sync every five seconds. Everyone follows the same plan; everyone's numbers are their own. Data lives on CloudKit's public database only while the session is active.
What about the Activity Feed — is it like a social network?
No threads, no DMs, no follower counts. After a workout you choose whether to share it; if you do, your friends see the summary (sets, volume, top lifts, PRs) and can react with one of six emojis. That's the whole interaction model. Friend invites use your Apple Sign-In handle — there are no usernames.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. The Watch makes mid-workout logging hands-free, but the iPhone does the full workflow on its own — sets, reps, rest timer, PRs, and Coach.
Where does my data live?
On your iPhone, plus your own private iCloud (via CloudKit). Apple end-to-end encrypts it — Grüp doesn't run a server and can't read it. The only data that touches CloudKit's public database is what you explicitly opt to share (a feed post, or sets during a Live Session).
Is this only for strength training?
No. Strength is the focus, but cardio is a first-class category — log duration, distance, and HealthKit calories. You can also track body composition (chest, waist, arm, thigh, body fat %) with auto cm/inch conversion based on your unit setting.
What happens if I miss a workout?
Streak Freezes. You earn one per month (up to two banked) — a missed week doesn't break your streak as long as you have a freeze to spend. Coach also surfaces a quiet "jump back in" nudge after three quiet days, never a guilt trip.
Can I import a plan from another app?
Not at launch. You can build any plan from scratch in the editor, or start from a built-in template (PPL, Upper-Lower, Full Body, Push-Pull) and tweak from there.
